What Is Better For Your Tyres Air Or Nitrogen?
You can fill your tires with two kinds of gases, air or nitrogen. Air has 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% water and other gases. So does it make an effect by fully filling your tire with nitrogen?
There are two main differences between normal air and nitrogen:
- Nitrogen is only 7% of air. Also, water content is less in nitrogen in comparison to normal air in the tire.
- In nitrogen-filled tires, oxygen is also replaced with 15% of nitrogen more.
On summer days, long drives with high speed have a harsh impact on the rubber of your tires because of great friction. As water vapors are present in normal air and water vapors are susceptible to thermal changes and it expands it causing the tire to run out of space for gas and it also increases the internal pressure. As a result, the air escapes and you will have a bumpy drive because oxygen atoms are smaller in comparison with the nitrogen ones, they easily escape through the micro-pores of tires. The low air pressure tires do not perform well they provide low fuel efficiency and poor handling on different kinds of surfaces. Also, aircraft tires are filled 100% with nitrogen as it performs excellently in speedy conditions hand can handle a hard impact with load on it.
Perks of getting Nitrogen for your Tyres
- Nitrogen has fewer chances of leaking through the pores of tires in comparison to oxygen. Which results that tire pressure will remain stable for a longer period.
- Nitrogen is just gas and it does not have any other particles such as water and normally has water in it which leads to corrosion of the steel rim. Nitrogen is corrosion free and the pressure stays the same even if the temperature changes.
- Nitrogen is not easily available and it is also expensive, but as a result, it grabs the ground better and also experts recommend it.
