- Tire tread depth: As the tire makes direct contact with the road and has weight on it, so checking of tread depth is necessary as it is a concern of safety. All the tires in the market have tread wear indicator (TWI) mark present on the shoulder of the tire and indicates that the tire’s life is over and it should be replaced.
- Rotation of tires: Experts recommend that tires should be rotated after 10,000 to 12,000 km to increase the tire life and for a smoother driving experience.
- Wheel balancing & alignment: In this process, the wheels are balanced to divide the vehicle weight equally on all the tires, and the vehicle provides maximum comfort to the user. Alignment also affects the vehicle suspension.
- Driving within the speed limit: Driving roughly or harshly does not only compromise safety it also affects the tire’s life. If the car hits a pothole in speeding it will not only ruin your tire it will have a major effect on your car’s rim and suspension.
- Spinning of tires: Avoid extreme spinning of tires, which will damage the tread of the tires, and grip will be compromised. Also in severe conditions tire might catch fire.
- Periodic service: Check your tires on weekly basis that it does not have a small nail or a stone stuck to it as it may damage the tire in the longer period.
- Overloading the vehicle: Avoid overloading the vehicle, it will give tires extra stress and the results will be poor handling and increased fuel consumption.
- Mismatching of tires: All the tires should be of the same type and size. While purchasing make sure all the tires should be of the same brand or matches the specifications and pattern.
- Delay in repair: If a tire has a puncture, crack or a cut it can be easily repaired and if it is delayed it might result in spoiling the tire. The result of driving damaged tires is worse and can cause an accident.
