How to Read Your Tyre Size?
The most important thing before buying tires is to check their size. The first step is to find a perfect fit for your vehicle. To understand your tire you need to look in the sidewall for your tire.
Learn how to read your tire through the markings on your tire’s sidewall. For example 185/70 R 14 84T:
- 185- Tread Width: 185 indicates that the tire is 185 mm wide. As the millimeters increase the wider the tire gets and in fewer millimeters, the tire gets narrowed.
- 70- Aspect Ratio: 70 mentioned on the sidewall is the height and it is expressed in percentage. It indicates the percentage of the width.
- R- Tyre Construction: You can find two letters it could be R for radial construction and the other is B which stands for Bias construction. The difference is radial has steel cords stretched from bead to bead at a 90-degree angle.
- 14- Rim Size: In this scenario rim size is 14 inches and it is the diameter of the wheel.
- 84- Load Index: 84 is the load index. It tells how much weight one tire could carry. Check your load index and measure your all four tires and do not overload the vehicle because it could be unsafe to ride on.
- T- Speed Rating: T is the speed rating of the tire. The higher the letter is the vehicle can speed faster. In this scenario T means the car could speed up to 190 km per hour. Also, a speed rating, under 200 is for the tires in passenger cars or light vehicles.
It is always preferred when you change your tires, change it with the same size every time. Before changing your tires ask an expert for the same size as it increases safety and performs better. All the tire manufacturers prefer that tires should be serviced or repaired by an expert.
