Important Labels On PCR Tyres

There are a lot of labels found on the sidewall of the tire which includes traction, tread-wear, and temperature grades. There are more labels present on the sidewall which are commonly ignored by the consumer that can help them consumer choose the best tires for their vehicle. The most common labels found on your tire’s sidewall are:

• R: The letter “R” indicates that the tire is of radial structure. This is the factory standard to maintain the difference between radial and bias tires.
• M+S: The letters “M” and “S” indicate that the tire is for muddy conditions or snowy conditions.
• Load index: There are two or three number letters mentioned on the sidewall that showcases how much load can this tire carry. The higher digits are the more weight tire can carry. It is mentioned beside the rim size with digits and one alphabet.
• Speed rating: These are mentioned to show how much max speed, this tire run can. The category of speed rating starts from “L” to “Y”. Also spare tire has been given the speed rating of “M“ as spare tires are not for speeding.
• Aspect ratio: The two digits indicate the tire’s height and width. According to some surveys, the number below 50 indicates a short sidewall which improves steering response for cars only. A low aspect ratio also provides better handling and increases vehicle stability.
• DOT: It is a four digit code which states the U.S. Department of Transportation. DOT symbol states that the manufacturer is in compliance with the authority.
